With most requiring between 800 and 1800 watts (W) to run, air fryers also use less electricity than electric ovens, which typically use around 2,200 W to 5,000 W, and therefore cost more to run.
How to Convert Recipes for an Air Fryer
Converting recipes from oven cooking to air fryer cooking is generally a straightforward process, and it can result in even tastier versions of your favourite dishes.
Many foods these days come with air fryer recipe instructions on the packaging. However, if you don’t have this information readily available, it is usually very easy to convert cooking instructions from oven to air fryer.
The time and the temperature both need to be adjusted when converting cooking times from oven to air fryer. For best results:
- Reduce the temperature by around 20°C
- Reduce the cooking time by around 20%
When cooking meat recipes in particular, remember to check the internal temperature to ensure food is thoroughly cooked and safe to eat.
