How to make a Caesar salad

Follow our simple steps to make a classic Caesar salad.

Ingredients: - Croutons - Romaine or baby gem lettuce - Tomatoes - Parmesan cheese - Mayonnaise - Mustard - Lemon - Olive Oil - Garlic - Anchovies - Chicken (optional)

Method: - If adding chicken, cook chicken breasts and shred once cool. - Remove the lettuce leaves and wash them. Chop your tomatoes. - Add a drop of olive oil to your garlic. Wrap in foil and roast in the oven at 180°C for 10-12 minutes. - Mash the garlic with a fork and mix with the mayo, mustard, ¾ of the parmesan, olive oil, lemon juice and anchovies if you’re using. Mix and season with salt and pepper to taste. - Toss the lettuce and tomatoes in half the dressing in a large bowl. Plate up and add the chicken, crouton and remaining cheese. Drizzle over the remaining dressing.

Typically, a Caesar salad features lettuce, usually romaine, as well as croutons and parmesan cheese. The sauce is made from a combination of olive oil, anchovies, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, egg yolk, Dijon mustard and black pepper.

Chicken is also commonly included, but is an addition to the recipe. Tomatoes and mayonnaise are also often included.
