Cooking Instructions and Tips

Make the Burgers
1

a) Preheat your oven to 220°C/200°C fan/gas mark 7. Peel and grate the garlic (or use a garlic press).

b) In a large bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and half the garlic with the salt and water for the breadcrumbs (see pantry for both amounts), then add the beef mince. Season with pepper and mix together with your hands.

c) Roll into 2 even-sized balls, then shape into 1cm thick burgers, 1 per person. TIP: The burgers will shrink a little during cooking.

Make the Streaky Bacon Legs
2

a) Scrunch a large piece of aluminium foil into a long log and place it onto a large baking tray.

b) Halve the streaky bacon lengthways (use scissors if easier), then pat dry with kitchen paper.

c) Lay one half of each piece of bacon over the aluminium foil log, ensuring the other half of each piece lays flat onto the baking tray. TIP: This will make the creepy crawly's legs bend!

Into the Oven
3

a) Pop the burger patties on the baking tray next to the bacon.

b) Bake the burgers and bacon on the middle shelf of your oven until cooked through, 12-15 mins. IMPORTANT: Wash your hands and equipment after handling raw meat. The burgers are cooked when no longer pink in the middle. Cook bacon thoroughly.

It's Watching You!
4

a) While the burgers cook, grate the cheese.

b) Halve the burger buns, then, using a small knife, create 2 small triangular holes in the side of each top bun for the eyes.

Make the Garlic Mayo
5

a) In a small bowl, combine the mayo and the remaining garlic. Season with salt and pepper, then stir to combine.

b) Once cooked, remove the bacon from the oven and carefully place the cheese on top of the burgers.

c) Add the burger buns to the same tray and return the tray to the oven until the cheese is melted and the buns are warmed through, 2-3 mins.

Spook and Serve
6

a) Once the cheese is melted, remove everything from the oven and spread the garlic mayo onto the warmed buns.

b) Top each bun base with a cheesy burger.

c) Lay 8 halves of bacon onto each burger, with the flat side against the cheese and the curved side pointing down towards the plate to make the legs. Sandwich on the bun lids to finish.

Enjoy!
