How to Make Plum Sauce
Plum sauce is a staple in Chinese cuisine, known for its sweet, tangy flavour that pairs perfectly with duck, pork, or spring rolls. This quick homemade version uses just a few ingredients and comes together in minutes.
- Start by heating a pan over medium-high heat and adding 1 knob of butter (or 1 tsp of oil if preferred).
- Once melted, add two plums, chopped and stones removed, and fry for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently until they begin to soften and take on a little colour.
- Stir in 1 tsp of honey and cook for another minute.
- Pour in 50ml of water and add ¼ tsp of chicken stock powder.
- Bring everything to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes, or until the plums have broken down and the sauce is sticky.
