Cooking Steps

Get Frying
1
  • Heat a large frying pan on medium-high heat (no oil).
  • Once hot, fry the beef mince, 5-6 mins.
  • Break it up as it cooks. IMPORTANT: Wash hands and equipment after handling raw mince. Cook so there's no pink in the middle.
Add Veg
2
  • Meanwhile, peel and grate the garlic (or use a garlic press).
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add the sliced carrot and cabbage mix and pea pods to the beef. Fry, 2-3 mins.
  • Stir in the ginger puree and garlic. Fry, 1 min.
Sauce Time

  • Stir in the hoisin, soy and water (see pantry).
  • Bring to the boil. Simmer, 1-2 mins.

  • Drizzle over the sriracha to finish.

Customer reviews

Review summary

Updated on Aug 2026
  • Flavour: The hoisin and ginger combination delivers a well-seasoned, satisfying result; some find the garlic quite strong and may prefer to reduce it slightly.
  • Ease of prep: Quick and straightforward to pull together, living up to its promise as a fast weeknight dish.
  • Suggestions: Add extra hoisin sauce or a splash more water if you prefer a saucier finish; consider bulking out the vegetables if the included mix feels light.
  • Portions: Some felt the mince portion was on the smaller side, so adding a little extra mince can help make the dish more filling.
