Ready in less than 15 minutes, our Speediest Sambal Teriyaki Beef Noodles are inspired by a takeaway favourite. Teriyaki's name comes from the Japanese 'teri', meaning 'shine' and 'yaki' meaning fried or grilled, while sambal contains herbs and spices such as red chillies, lemongrass and tamarind to give vibrant heat.

Cooking Instructions and Tips

Get Frying
1
  • Trim the carrot. Chop into half moons about ½ cm thick.
  • Heat a drizzle of oil in a frying pan on high heat.
  • Once hot, fry the beef and carrot, 5-6 mins.
  • Break up the mince as it cooks, then drain the fat. Season with salt and pepper. IMPORTANT: Wash hands and utensils after handling raw meat. Cook so there's no pink in the middle.
Noodle Time
2
  • Meanwhile, boil a full kettle. Pour it into a saucepan with ½ tsp salt on high heat.
  • Boil the noodles, 4 mins.
  • Once cooked, drain in a sieve and run under cold water to stop them sticking together.
  • While everything's cooking, open the remaining sachets.
Sauce It
3
  • Stir the pea pods, teriyaki, soy, sambal (add less if you'd prefer things milder), honey and water (see pantry for both) into the beef.
  • Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, 1-2 mins.
  • Add the cooked noodles. Stir to coat, 1-2 mins.
  • Taste and season with salt and pepper if needed. Add a splash of water if it's too thick.
Dinner's Ready!
4
  • Share the noodles between your bowls.
  • Sprinkle over the sesame seeds to finish.
