How to Cook Spaghetti
The Italian cuisine staple, spaghetti, is an all-round favourite when it comes to family meals. Like many pastas, it’s quick, easy to cook and extremely versatile. Plus, any recipe using spaghetti can be customised and tailored to your personal tastes and nutritional goals.
Here’s how to cook spaghetti to perfection:
- Step 1: Bring a large pan of water to the boil and add a pinch of salt.
- Step 2: Cook your spaghetti in the boiling water for around 10 minutes or until ‘al dente’, then drain in a colander. Remember, don’t discard your pasta water! Adding around a cup full to your sauce will ensure that your spaghetti and sauce successfully cling together, leaving you with a more rounded and flavourful dish.
- Step 3: Once drained, return your spaghetti to the pan and drizzle with some olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Step 4: Once you’re ready, combine it with your sauce and other ingredients to complete your spaghetti dish. The longer you leave to simmer, the richer the flavour will be.
