- Meanwhile, break each lasagne sheets into roughly 5-6 pieces.
- Pour the boiled water into a medium saucepan with ½ tsp salt on high heat.
- Boil the lasagne sheets, 12 mins.

- While the pasta is cooking, add the passata, red wine stock paste, sugar and water (see pantry for both) to the beef mince.
- Simmer, 3-4 mins.
- Add the spinach in handfuls, making sure it's piping hot, 1-2 mins.
- Stir in the cooked pasta and half the cheese.

- Sprinkle over the remaining cheese and chilli flakes.
Review summary
Updated on Aug 2026- Flavour: The rich tomato and beef base is widely enjoyed, though some found the soup a little bland and suggest it could benefit from added depth, such as a different cheese or onions.
- Ease of prep: The recipe comes together quickly and is straightforward to follow; most found it an easy weeknight cook.
- Suggestions: The lasagne sheets stuck together for many cooks, leaving them undercooked — using pasta shapes such as penne instead is a practical fix. Reducing or omitting the water creates more of a stew-like dish, which several cooks preferred; also consider reducing the stock paste if you find the result too salty.
- Next-day meals: One reviewer noted this works well made a second time, and it has become a regular staple for at least one household.
- Portions: Breaking the lasagne sheets into smaller, bite-sized pieces than instructed may give a better balance of pasta to broth in each bowl.
