How to Marinate Your Tofu For Delicious Tofu Recipes

Marinating tofu can add flavour and depth to every meal. Here are some simple and easy ways to marinate tofu that you can try out yourself at home:

Basic Marinade: Combine soy sauce, minced garlic, and a touch of honey or maple syrup for sweetness. Add a dash of sesame oil and some grated ginger for extra flavour. Place the tofu in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, flipping the tofu halfway through.

Teriyaki Marinade: Mix together soy sauce, mirin (rice wine), brown sugar, and minced garlic. Marinate the tofu in the teriyaki sauce for at least 30 minutes, or longer for more flavour.

BBQ Marinade: Create a BBQ-style marinade with ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, and a hint of smoked paprika. Marinate the tofu for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for a smokier taste.

Lemon-Herb Marinade: Combine lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, and your choice of fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, or basil. Marinate the tofu for about 30 minutes to infuse it with a fresh, zesty flavour.

Asian-inspired Marinade: Mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Let the tofu marinate for at least 30 minutes for an Asian-inspired taste.

Italian Marinade: Create an Italian-style marinade with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, dried oregano, and minced garlic. Marinate the tofu for 30 minutes to an hour, allowing the flavours to meld.
