How to Make Mango Chutney
If you have some mango in your fridge that needs using up, making your own mango chutney can be a great solution. Follow these steps below to make yours:
- Peel and chop 2 ripe mangoes, then combine them with 1 small chopped onion, 1 clove of garlic, 1 tsp of grated ginger, and 1 chopped green chilli in a saucepan.
- Add 100g of brown sugar, 100ml of vinegar, and a pinch of salt.
- Simmer the mixture over low heat for about 30 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Once cooled, store in a jar for up to 2-3 weeks.
While homemade chutney is delicious, ready-made mango chutney is also a convenient option. It's packed with flavour and can be used in a pinch for quick recipes. You can still cook fresh with ready-made chutney by adding it to Indian dishes like curry, grilled meats, or roasted vegetables for a boost of sweetness and spice, saving time without compromising on taste.
